It's our third wedding anniversary today and in true romantic style, S has gone above and beyond with a gift to commemorate it.... He agreed to the purchase of a Thermomix! I know, it doesn't get much better than that and to say I'm excited is an understatement. Enough to make up for the fact that I'm home watching The Block with a sleeping E while he is playing soccer. That said, we did have a night out earlier in the week to make up for it.
So If we were following gift guides, it should have been leather on the traditional list (hmmmm could have been interesting) and glass, crystal or pearls on the modern. I wouldn't say no to a strand of pearls but hey, a thermie will end up being a heck of a lot more useful and particularly with B2 joining us soon.

For those who've never heard of the Thermomix, it's basically a kitchen appliance that replaces almost everything in your kitchen as it steams, weighs, chops, mills, kneads, sautée, emulsifies, stirs and more all in half the usual time it takes to do any of that. It promotes additive free cooking, using fresh ingredients and minimises preparation and cleanup. It literally makes perfect risotto in under 20 minutes with no stirring or fresh peanut butter in 30 seconds.
Be warned though, they're German made and they don't come cheap. You can also only see one in action at a demo and if you attend a demo, they say it's not a question of if you will buy one but when.
I have known of and wanted one forever and recently got chatting to my mum and sis about them. Turns out my mum had a friend who had just become a consultant so mum decided to support her by hosting a demo. After that, mum was sold and bought one the next day and after a week of nonstop use, insisted my sister and I get one too. Well, with a recommendation like that from my most respected source, who am I to disagree?
I'm already making lists of what to make first up and I may even start posting my weekly menu plan and grocery list once I have the Thermomix figured out so I can track how I'm getting value from it by both saving money from shopping, wastage and if there is an improvement in our diet.
Does anyone have a thermomix and can offer some advice, must try recipes or any must know owner tips?
