Obstetric care the second time around

10:43
If you used to read my old blog, you may know that while pregnant with E, I saw a wonderful Obstetrician privately for my pregnancy care but birthed at the local public hospital. This option worked well because initially I didn't have the time to wait around for appointments at the public clinic, I loved having the personal care given it was my...

Second time around shopping list

10:50
So there's not much I need to buy this time around (S is very pleased about this) ... mostly because a) we aren't finding out the sex b) we can use most of the items we bought for E and c) I don't have the time to pore over lists and do endless research on a million bits we don't need but I...

Pregnancy Update: 11 weeks

09:11
How far along? 11 weeks  Total weight gain/loss: no weighing. Maternity clothes? Starting to put some effort into planning a maternity wardrobe including pulling out some clothes from round 1 and buying a few bits ... I'm still at that 'is she fat or pregnant' stage.  Stretch marks? hoping for none again this time around so I'm generous with the sorbolene and mil will be back soon...

Pregnancy Update: Week 10

15:19
How far along? 10 weeks  Total weight gain/loss: see previous posts - no weighing. Maternity clothes? Still in my usual wardrobe but not liking the way things are sitting at the moment - I'm at that 'is she fat or pregnant' stage.  Stretch marks? hoping for none again this time around. Symptoms: still feeling queasy and sensitive to smells around the clock but Elevit morning sickness tablets are...

Pregnancy update: 9 weeks

15:17
How far along? 9 weeks - we had our scan last week and all was spot on so that's positive. We took E with us and I don't think we will again... the room is not equipped for an active little boy and he was in a cranky mood and only wanted mummy so all in all it was a little distracting. Total weight...

Pregnancy update: 8 weeks

How far along? 8 weeks  Total weight gain/loss: see previous posts - no weighing. Maternity clothes? Still in my usual wardrobe although jeans are a little snug.  Stretch marks? Sorbolene cream morning and night all over until my mother in law brings back my magic Mothercare cream from Singapore. Symptoms: still feeling queasy and sensitive to smells around the clock - I almost vomited in Baskin Robbins...

Pregnancy update: 7 weeks

15:14
How far along? 7 weeks (I'm 11 weeks now for reference but couldn't share these previously). Total weight gain/loss: I don't plan to weigh myself unless necessary as my Ob advised it has no benefit unless they are concerned from a medical perspective about the growth of bub or effect of morning sickness. Maternity clothes? Just my normal wardrobe but favouring pieces with a stretchy waist...

Pregnancy update: 6 weeks

15:13
How far along? 6 weeks - I'm now 11 weeks but this was written back before I could share the big news :) Total weight gain/loss: I don't have scales, I didn't weigh myself with Ethan and I'm not planning to use them this time around either. My Ob last time around told me as long as the scans showed a healthy baby developing at...

Pregnancy Update: 5 weeks

15:12
Yep, Ethan is going to be a big brother and baby number 2 (B2) is on the way. To say the news was unexpected is downplaying it to say the least. I am (was) taking the mini pill and breastfeeding but as we all know, only abstinence is 100% effective contraception. Scott and I had plans to add to our family early next year...

Daycare drop offs

08:59
Our daycare drop offs are hideous heart wrenching events that I have come to dread each week. E goes to kindy on Fridays and no matter how well he slept, how happy his morning was or who drops him off, he shrieks like a banshee complete with tears when its drop off time. He used to be happy enough on arrival, only getting...

Monthly update: 16 months

14:17
Age: 16 Months Stats: no weighing or measuring this month so nothing to share. Clothes: definitely a size 1 in tees now but my little poppet is still too narrow in the waist and short in length for size 1/12-18m bottoms. He is still wearing some 00 Quicksilver boardshorts comfortably. Favorite Foods: We are all about the squeezy fruit pouches here much to my disgust or as...

A little sooner than expected but exciting nonetheless...

10:06
I'm very excited to share that Ethan is going to be a big brother sooner than later  and we are embarking on a crazy journey of having two under two. I have lots of posts I've been preparing to share on what I'm buying for B2 and for E  and how this pregnancy is already world's apart from my last. I hope you...

Night weaning

20:53
At 14 months Ethan had never slept through the night. Yep, that's right, not one single night since birth. He has always had a strict bedtime set by him ... He likes to be in bed settling by 6;30pm like clockwork and most mornings he is up around 6am on average with a few 5am and 7ams to keep us on our toes....

Menu planning - what's on the list?

12:02
One of the keys to juggling full time work with mummy and wife duties is meal planning. If your house is anything like ours, neither of us mind cooking but both of us hate thinking of what to have. For us, meal planning saves time and money grocery shopping, saves on waste, helps avoid disagreements over what to have, means we eat healthier...

The weekend that was

11:20
If you lived in Queensland or NSW, you were lucky enough to enjoy a long weekend like us and here, the weather was perfection for the most part. We did lots of swimming, ate healthy lunches on the go, had a Japanese lunch date with my sister and niece, celebrated the Roosters' grand final win with a party at my parents' (thank goodness...

Bento Box lovin' part 2

10:56
I posted early last month about my quest to create Bento Box style lunches for E on his kindy days here:  http://goldcoastmumma.blogspot.com.au/2013/09/bento-box-lovin.html Well, a few Fridays in - E goes to daycare once a week - and I give you my first masterpieces (generous description for sure): I'm having so much fun planning and designing Ethan's lunchbox, making sure its balanced, colourful and...
