Pregnancy update: 21 weeks

21:08

How far along? 21 weeks already ... More than halfway!

Maternity clothes? Nope, a week of camping meant swimmers and summer dresses.

Stretchmarks? No sign so far.

Symptoms: tiredness but that's probably more to do with the early rising of camping plus the heat wave we've been having. The killer heartburn also seems to have kicked in and even water is an agitator.

Sleep: completely out to it once I get to bed. I love sleep!

Miss Anything? Camping definitely wasn't quite the same without midday beers and joining my mum and sis for wine and bubbles.

Movement: lots of kicking and wriggling from the little bean... Feels like it's quite low.

Best moment this week: we've been away camping with my whole family since Christmas and it's been lovely watching E spend so much time with his adored cousins and seeing him make new friends as well. Just having the opportunity to make memories and spend unlimited time with my little boy before B2 comes was fabulous. Trivia night was also beyond entertaining with my competitive family en masse.

Worst moment this week: as I skipped last week's update thanks to awful reception, I didn't get to share the results in full of our morphology scan. All was positive with everything as it should be apart from baby's kidneys. It appears that each kidney has 2 arteries going in rather than just the normal one. I'm informed this can be referred to as duplex kidneys and the significance depends on how 'duplexed' they are. I have a good friend who happens to be a paed and whose husband is a paediatric nephrologist so she has kindly provided some layman's info to help us understand what it all means and put us at ease. Likely nothing but of course I can't help but worry a little ... We will have a few more scans in coming weeks to determine the extent of the duplex so no use making mountains out of molehills. Significantly I have been told this condition is more common in girls than boys.

Food cravings: appetite is still on strike with no return in sight. I'm really having to remind myself to eat as I'm just not interested in food.

Anything making you queasy or sick: so far so good, it would seem the nausea has finally passed.

Have you started to show yet: very much so ... I swear I look like I'm having twins!

Belly Button in or out? It's in but I'm starting to wonder if it might actually pop this time.

Happy or Moody most of the time: very happy but more than a little tired at the moment and feeling slightly overwhelmed by how much there is to do in what feels like a short time with the speed of this pregnancy.

Looking forward to:  another week off with my boys (lots of fun planned including some theme park visits) and getting started on setting up B2s bedroom.

  1. Wow over half way
And leaning toward being a girl, how exciting... I don't know how people wait to find out but I can imagine it is worth it for that moment the baby is held up!

    1. Tell me about it Kacie - where did the time go?
I'm not sure how I'm holding out ... sometimes I forget and other times I desperately want to know :)
