I'm Renee: unexpected

Pregnancy update: 28 weeks

10:32

How far along? 28 weeks ... the 3rd trimester is almost here!.

Maternity clothes? Still just wearing parts of my regular wardrobe on high rotation. I'm not anti-maternity wear by any stretch but I just haven't had the occasion to require specific maternity wear with my parts of existing wardrobe covering the need quite adequately if boringly. I'd rather save the money to splurge on new clothes once baby is born.

Stretchmarks? none still but running out of my Mothercare cream so hoping my friend in Singapore can come through for me and send some over.

Symptoms: Still being driven mad by that twitchy eyelid and just all round exhaustion lately too. I've also had a few mornings of nausea but none today thankfully.

Sleep: next to non existent the last few nights with this awful cold/flu taking hold - the vaporiser is working overtime in our house.

Miss Anything? Oh how I'd love to pop a cold and flu tablet or ten and see the back of this sore throat, cough and stuffy head!

Movement: constant and getting stronger with B2 still a fan of hanging from my ribs. I'm sure B2 also was laying transverse for a day this week and the pain almost killed me ... E did the same around this period and it was excruciating.

Best moment this week: spending the weekend with my happy little guy and enjoying TWO tantrum free days ... the disposition in Toddler Town is on the up.

Worst moment this week: waking up this morning to worse symptoms than I've had all week and a painfully sore throat.

Food cravings: the usual culprits like iced coffee milk extra cold, Whitmans coconut chocolate, chocolate yogos and mint choc biscuits are all still in favour here along with microwave popcorn and Cheddar shapes.

Anything making you queasy or sick: no, I seem to be passed any food aversions.

Belly Button in or out? I'm considering taping it down - does it work? I'm vain and hating the visibility through my clothes.

Happy or Moody most of the time: excited and full of anticipation for the exciting changes ahead.

Looking forward to: my Ob appointment later this week - should be lots of updates from this one meeting - and taking delivery of a very exciting new piece of kitchen equipment that is guaranteed to save me time and money plus the ability to prepare food for my little family that is additive free and as fresh as possible.

How far along? 26 weeks ... I'll be on mat leave before I know it at this rate.

Maternity clothes? Nada ... Still sticking to my stretchy waisted Country Road pieces.

Stretchmarks? No.

Symptoms: annoyingly I seem to have developed a twitchy right eyelid ... apparently common in pregnancy due to stress and fatigue. The Braxton Hicks too are ever present as is the shortness of breath from even the slightest exertion but feeling good.

Sleep: waking earlier than I need to and lots of tossing and turning - prepping me for life with a newborn already.

Miss Anything? I miss not having to worry - about what I'm eating, doing, if I'm eating enough or the right things, resting enough, feeling ok etc.

Movement: baby is a busy bee in the evening and whenever E is causing a commotion - b2 reacts to big brother's voice like crazy.

Best moment this week: the best was having my maternity leave fully and officially approved - 12 months at least off with my babies, how lucky am I! Picking up the new double pram was a bit of a highlight too but assembling it, not so much. Catching up with a gorgeous girlfriend for breakfast was also lovely and so relaxed without our munchkins to chase.

Worst moment this week: the GD test wasn't horrible but it's never fun drinking liquid sugar then having bloods drawn.

Food cravings: same as last week, I'm devouring mango, mint slice biscuits, Nodco coffee milks iced and had a crazy craving for wagon wheels even though I don't like marshmallow and haven't had one in years!

Anything making you queasy or sick: having some mid morning nausea and again in the afternoons but otherwise still just meat is making me queasy.

Belly Button in or out? I'm still adjusting to the fact that it's out 😩

Happy or Moody most of the time: it's been a good week overall but we had a sick baby who wouldn't sleep and I found myself very near tears or actually in tears on several occasions.

Looking forward to: celebrating Valentines Day with my boys by making treats for E and hoping S likes his gift.

25 weeks

Pregnancy Update: 25 weeks

09:55

How far along? 25 weeks ... and counting down.

Maternity clothes? not this week but I'm starting to get sick of some of the outfits I have on rotation so I clearly either need to go shopping or the seasons need to hurry up and change so I can wheel out some of my cooler weather gear for a change..

Stretchmarks? still absent thankfully although I had a friend kindly recommend this week I buy some SM cream from a skincare line she is selling as it was known for reducing them. I have to admit to be a little insulted she just assumed I already had them :/

Symptoms: lots of Braxton Hicks still ... are they supposed top make labour easier/more efficient? Sadly the nausea also seems to have made a random return the past two mornings and has left me feeling blergh along with feelings of being out of breath constantly. That said, I am still enjoying a pretty great pregnancy and feel very lucky overall.

Sleep: the last few nights have involved lots of wakeups, lots of dreaming and lots of very full bladder discomfort ... the downhill stretch perhaps?

Miss Anything? after a few long dramatic days over the past week, an ice cold beer or sav blanc would have been welcomed like you wouldn't believe.

Movement: baby seems to have a whole lots of energy in the afternoons and when I finally sit down and settle in to watch The Block once E is in bed... hoping this is not a pattern for life on the outside.

Best moment this week: lots of little ones that combine to make the bigger picture of B2's impending arrival a reality like picking up the new 'family' car, selling our current Bugaboo cameleon (replacing with the donkey) and shopping the baby sales for newborn items.

Worst moment this week: while we don't live a fairytale, I don't have any worst moments to share this week either. We are all healthy and well so life is good.

Food cravings: my chocolate intake is definitely up, namely Whitmans coconut bars and mint slice biscuits however in my defence, I am also eating lots of mango, watermelon and white nectarines too. I also can't get through the morning it seems without an ice cold Norco coffee milk.

Anything making you queasy or sick: waking up the past two mornings has done that ... a sign to stay in bed perhaps? Try telling that to a 19 month old who walks around the house shouting 'mummmmmeeee' or 'nayyyyyyy' at 6:30am... and yes, he is calling me by my first name (nay for Renee) if he doesn't get a reply to 'mummmmmeeee' promptly.

Belly Button in or out? its out! Cue exasperated pained expression and hands in the air. Its a strange thing to adjust to surprisingly after 32 years of an innie... yes, I am being superficial.

Happy or Moody most of the time: very very happy ... this week I have been reminded once again of the beautiful people I have in my life and the love I and my little family are surrounded by. It makes me so excited to bring another baby into this circle to share that.

Looking forward to: taking a little time out for me this week and catching up with two of my favourite girlfriends this week to hearing about their overseas holidays - one jetted off to India and Nepal for January and the other, skiing in Japan! Oh, and booking tix to take E to see Playschool later in the year.
